Hope

Hope is a yellow sun,
Radiant and blinding,
With the taste of cheesecake
And the smell of vanilla.

Hope resounds like the peal of church bells
And children's singing.

Hope is a down comforter
Warming us against the winter's cold.

Hope roars like a lion
Driving away faintness of heart with its courage.

Hey Jackie,
I love your poem! If hope is all you said it is than being hopeful is a beautiful thing!!! Thanks for showing us that poetry is a much-overlooked genre for expressing one's feelings.

Hey Jackie,
If hope is as you describe, than let us all feel hopeful about all there is in life! You have renewed my faith that poetry can be a wonderful genre for expressing one's feelings.

I like how you tweaked the poem a little further with your last line. That was a fun activity! I've always loved teaching poetry. I've never met a student that didn't love it too.

Hello Professor Nenchin,
This poem really exudes hopefulness and makes "hope" an tangible substance. It is a poem that should be read when one is feeling down and needs a few lines to perk him or her up. We all need to be hopeful in order to be able to move forward in life!
